Charles Lapworth

Charles Lapworth (1842-1920) was a British geologist who revolutionized Earth sciences in the 19th century.

He proposed the Ordovician period, resolving decades of scientific controversy over rock classification.

His work in tectonics, geological mapping and paleontology established foundations that we still use today.

LAP honors its legacy by combining scientific precision, methodological innovation, and transformative vision.
